flying to nicaragua

There are two large international airports within driving distance of Casabella (Liberia  and Managua). Liberia International Airport is located in Costa Rica. It is about an hour and a half drive from the house. However, you will have to cross the Costa Rica and Nicaraguan border. This usually takes about an hour. We don't normally recommend taking this option if you will be traveling with children or inexperienced travelers. Managua International Airport is a two and a half hour drive to the house. There is a small international airport named Costa Esmeralda International about 10 minutes from the house. They have ten flights each week from Managua International and 10 flights each week from Liberia International. Click here for more information about flying into Costa Esmeralda. 

From The Airport to Hacienda Iguana

Hacienda Iguana is a very small community. Renting a car isn't necessary because everything is within walking distance. We also have bikes available to rent if walking isn't your speed. If you choose to rent a car, the Managua Airport carries all the major U.S. brands or Alamo is conveniently located near the front gate of Hacienda Iguana.
